When we saw how our oceans were clogging up with waste that shouldn’t be there – and nobody was responsible for it There are many ways to solve this, but too many companies focus on trying to create new materials, with little consideration on how they’re actually used. Sengong’s name is made up of two words: ‘Sen’ means ‘forest’, while ‘Gong’ means ‘industry’. Interpreted, it means ‘a material industry designed to work with the forest’.

We’re not here to start a
material revolution

Developing new sustainable materials can be expensive, have slow uptake or even fail, so our material technology principle is driven by user behavior: consumers are used to convenience or may not have the impetus to recycle. This way, we can create products or applications that are realistic, practical and reduce waste and pollution. Instead of relying on exotic new organic materials, or biodegradable plastics made from precious food resources, or expensive plastic recycling chains, we believe in making biodegradable PVA more affordable and accessible.

Why
PVA?

PVA isn’t a new material – it’s been around since 1912. PVA or PVOH is biodegradable, but it was expensive. Over the decades, it’s become more adaptable and cost-effective. Because it can be recycled and reused, and it has more applications than most people think. From packaging, to food, to logistics, to agriculture – PVA is a format that has proven itself to be completely dissolvable and reusable. Our green PVA manufacturing process can produce affordable, biodegradable PVA that dissolves quickly at room temperature water or over 100˚C.

We do not believe sustainable products should be expensive or exclusive. Why should eco-friendly materials be made from precious food resources such as corn or rice? To make a difference, biodegradable materials should be affordable and be widely accessible to the masses.

With that in mind, our world-class R&D team has evolved PVA material technology to be sustainable, accessible and adaptable. Backed by over 25 patents and over 130 unique formulas, our next-gen PVA films are made in a very low-carbon factory powered by waste steam, while our custom-engineered production lines deliver PVA films at a very reasonable cost, efficiently, with industry-leading standards of quality.
